Satisfactory Academic Progress for Covenant Students

At the WASFAA fall conference a question was asked about the covenant students continuing eligibility if the student did not maintain satisfactory academic progress. I initially thought that the student could regain their eligibility but after reviewing the administrative rules I am incorrect. The rules specifically state “that eligibility for the grant award ceases if the scholar does not maintain acceptable academic standards as prescribed by the student’s institution of higher education? Adm 80.05. There is nothing in the rules about regaining their eligibility (as there is with other grants), so unfortunately if the student does not maintain satisfactory academic progress they lose the grant and are not able to regain it. I am sorry about any confusion this may have caused and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
